Banded Agate was originally found along the shores of Lake Superior. Native Americans mined this stone for centuries by carrying out small chunks on horseback through the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota. Banded Agate has an astonishing array of colors, from brown and blue to silver and yellow. Each characteristic band is enhanced by contrasting markings that add to the intrinsic beauty of the stone.
Keepsake base measures 2" x 2", the Banded Agate top is 1/2" x 4" and is 8 cubic inches. A brass plate is included, but is not engraved. The top is highly polished like glass. The natural roughness is retained in the irregular shape and rugged edge. Once polished, the burled swirl of mineral deposits creates a unique and extraordinary design. Available in Blue Toned Agate or Green Toned Agate.
